Coronavirus and Home & Legacy travel insurance

On 11th March 2020 the World Health Organisation (WHO) upgraded the coronavirus outbreak to a worldwide pandemic.
What does this mean for Home & Legacy Worldwide Multi-trip Travel Insurance policyholders?
What is covered:
- If you are already abroad and you travelled in line with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) advice available at the time of travelling; should you fall ill with Coronavirus / COVID-19 our cover will be provided to you under the emergency medical expenses section of your policy.

What is not covered:
Now that Coronavirus / COVID-19 has been declared a pandemic by the WHO, the policy no longer covers claims made if you ill in the UK with Coronavirus / COVID-19 before you are due to travel, such as cancellation claims.
The following scenarios are also excluded:
- If you fall ill after travelling to a country or area for which the FCO have advised people not to travel to.
- Cancellation costs if you feel disinclined to travel to an area that is not listed on the FCO’s website.
- Curtailment costs should you want to return home early from a trip to a country or area that is not listed on the FCO’s website.
Please also be aware: For new sales, including policy renewals or customers looking to add travel insurance to their existing Home & Legacy home insurance:
No cover will be provided for any claim/ loss arising from or attributable to Coronavirus/ COVID-19 including trips that are pre-booked.
